Rainy Day

A few girls and I went walking this morning and we didn't even get through three laps because it started to rain! It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten Hayden out of the house, and if you’ve ever met a two year old who’s been stuck inside for more than two days…you know how treacherous it can be! So, Timi and I decided to get our boys out of the house and go play in the play place at the mall. We each enjoyed a milk shake from Maggie Moo’s and the boys got their energy out. It was nice to chat with a girlfriend and nice to not be stuck inside or run errands for a change.

After we left the mall Hayden and I stopped by to see Grandma at work. He was so excited to see her and ran up for a big hug and wouldn’t let her go…not even to the bathroom! We walked over to see Ms. Melanie and here is the picture she snapped:

Being a mom is the best! I only hope I can have more "rainy days"

Peek-a-boos and Missing Diapers

Our poor cat, Charley, was basking in the sun coming into the living room from our skylights. Dosing off for a nap was not an option for him as the tiny terror known as Hayden came into the room. Hayden loves his blankets and often finds it necessary to have every single one we own on the couch as he watches his “Baby” movie (Baby Einstein). So taking each blanket, he proceeds to pile them one by one on top of Charley. (As a side note, Hayden has gotten in the habit of calling his blankets “money”. Where he got that idea from is beyond me.) It’s quite entertaining to watch my son pick up each blanket and plop it on top of the other all while chanting “Money! Money! Money!” Once he has all the blankets on top of our poor kitty Hayden removes the blankets one by one until he reveals Charley and screams “Bit-a-boo” (Translation: “Peek-a-boo!”). I’m getting quite a kick out of this as Charley finally knows what it is like to be a mother. Hayden then takes one of the blankets and places it ever so gently, as gently as a two year old can, on top of Charley. He runs around in a circle asking “Where’s Charley? Where’s Charley?” and is then full of squeals and giggles as Charley wriggles his way out of the blanket and then screams “Bit-a-boo!” at the top of his lungs.

Repeat about 15 times and you get the idea of my morning. I sit here typing this while Hayden has been taking off his pants, and has now managed to come out of his diaper.

We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet

As I sit here reflecting on the last several years of my life I grow increasingly grateful for the opportunity I had to listen to our dear prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, more times than I can possibly count. He was the first Prophet I really understood and paid attention to. I always enjoyed his charming wit while in the same breath he could get right down to business. He has provided this world with years of counsel and comfort and he will truly be missed.

What a sad and glorious occasion this is. While we lose one great leader, we are given the opportunity to embrace another. He has some mighty shoes that need to be filled, but I am confident that whoever follows him will step up to the plate in an amazing way.

It is quite difficult to mourn a man who has spent literally almost a century in devoted service to his Lord and fellow man. He is reunited with his sweetheart and Savior. He was such a great man, and I can only imagine his welcome on the other side of the veil was just as amazing as he was.

Nilla Wafers and Mindless TV

It's been a long crazy afternoon with a few unexpected errands that came up. I need to get ready for work so I plopped Hayden down in front of Backyardigans with a bag of cookies. Yep...that's right folks! Mother of the year right here!

All gone

$1900...That's what it's going to cost to fix Mike's car. $1900. We had a nice little plan for our financial aid and tax return money. We were going to fix up our house. Mike was going to get glasses. I need to get some dental work done. All that...out the window! All for work on a car that isn't even worth $1900. Somebody say a prayer for us! I'm so bummed right now. Gone are my new kitchen cabinets. Gone are my nice new wood floors. Gone is the fresh coat of paint. All gone...

Just Us!

I'm new to this blogging thing, so let's see if I can keep it up!

Hayden is getting bigger and smarter every day. We often go to the zoo and he is getting very good at pointing to the animals and making the correct sounds. He is getting better at putting his puzzels together and loves to read books. He has a few small balls that are his favorites, and let me tell you...he's got quite an arm on him! Maybe he'll be a quarterback someday!

Michael is working for Tom Bush as the detail manager. For the most part, I think he enjoys his job. He is also taking 3 more classes this semester, one of which is weight training. Lucky guy gets to exercise for college credit! Doesn't seem fair, does it? He is also serving right now as a ward missionary.

I am still working at Ann Taylor. I am lucky enough to only have to work 2-3 nights per week and Saturdays. This allows me to be able to be with Hayden during the day and go to playgroup, the zoo, book club, as well as get our errands run. I couldn't have a better situation if I tried. I am serving as the Relief Society Secretary and am busier than ever trying to put together a ward cookbook, as well as a Relief Society directory. During my free time (yeah right) I like to watch pretty much any game show, go shopping, bake, and most of all...I like to take a nap! I have also been walking about 3 mornings per week with a couple friends before our husbands go to work. This makes me very sleepy during the day, but I am begining to notice a difference in the way my pants fit!

Uh...I guess that's all for now!
