Thank you all so much for your kind words of concern and prayers.
We left for the hospital this morning at about 6:45. His surgery was scheduled for 9:15 and we needed to be there a couple hours early for anesthesia.
When they brought us back they handed me two tiny little hospital gowns for me to put him in. Let me tell you - no mother should ever have to do that. I swear that was the hardest thing for me to do this far in his little life. Seeing him in the gowns was my breaking point.
After that we went into the 'holding room' where he played with lots of fun toys. The nurse came in and gave him some 'happy juice'. If you ever have the chance to see a drunk two year old, I highly recommend it. I laughed harder in those few minutes than I have in a long time.
Then they took him back. Through those awful double doors and around the corner. I lost it. Mike just wrapped me in his arms and comforted me. We hadn't eaten so we went upstairs to get some food. I don't know who's idea it was to put the cafe on the top floor overlooking the river, but it was a brilliant idea. There isn't a whole lot that is more serine then eating biscuits and gravy overlooking the water.
The second we got back downstairs the doctor came out to let us know that everything went well. We had to wait a few minutes before we could come back and see him. We went into a small area where they wheeled him in on a tiny hospital bed with tubes sticking out of him. This was the most difficult part.
I've heard that waking up from anesthesia is like waking up to the worst headache you've ever had...so needless to say, he was grumpy. I think the recovery took longer than the actual surgery. Once they took the IV out of his arm he was much happier.
Now we're home and he is blissfully drugged up and sleeping away in his crib.

:( Beck! I'm so glad everything went well! I'm sorry this even had to happen, that must have been terrible.
You'll see, he'll be back to his old little self in no time. :)
...and you'll be trying to find more of that happy-juice at walgreens. ;) LOL
I swear they'd make millions if they sold that stuff over the counter!
I am glad everything went well. That would really be hard I'm sorry you had to go through that. YEA IT"S OVER!
Beck!! I'm so glad that everything went well. I love the happy juice, we laughed so hard at Ethan when he had it. How's he doing now?
Becka, I am really happy that things all went well. I included Hayden in my prayers this morning. I really hope you guys have a good relaxing weekend.
Our prayers have been with you guys. I'm so glad they said everything went well adn we hope he recovers quickly.
Becka,
So sorry you had to go through this! But at least it's fixed and you don't have to worry about it anymore. And I'm glad you got a good laugh out of your kid being drugged. Knowing how well you tolerate pain meds, I can only imagine how funny it was!
Hope he's recovering well.
The power of prayer is great...glad the darling Hayden came thru it all o.k. He'll be hiding the keys or doing some other mischief again soon !
Oh Becka I'm just glad it's over and he did well! All the miniature sized hospital stuff is just sad.
