Toddler Dance

My adorable friend, Shalee, threw a "dress to impress" party for the kiddos on Friday morning complete with fun music, the limbo, and jell-o jigglers. Since I planned on buying Hayden an Easter outfit anyway, I decided to get it earlier this year so he could get dressed up in his fancy pants for this cute little party!

I know...I KNOW! I can hardly stand it either!

Congratulations, Michael!

Mike graduated last week and I am just now getting around to posting the one picture that turned out.

The academy took five and a half months to complete...including rigorous physical training, firearms training, 15 exams and hours and hours of other instruction. Many times he came home barely able to move, because apparently Sgt. Cooper, the PT instructor, is known as "The Machine" and worked them very hard. He rarely watched TV the last few months...instead his free time (yeah right!) was filled with studying, since you can only fail one exam. He ended up with a 3.0 GPA for the academy. WOOT!

It was lots of hard work and long days, but it's paid off! Now he just needs to find a job!

Why doesn't it ever turn out like the pictures?

Here I am, flipping through my free monthly copy of Women's Day and I see this:

So here I am thinking - I could do that! What a cute little visiting teacher I am going to be! HA! Here is what I was able to come up with....

I love to see the Temple

Last weekend Mike had a chance to go down to Orlando and do Baptisms for the Dead with the Youth. He really enjoyed the experience, and the weather could NOT have been more beautiful!

Every time Hayden and I watch Sesame Street and Prairie Dawn comes on to discuss the letter of the day, Cookie Monster swoops in and eats it, frustrating her to no end. Here's where I become perplexed...every time Ms. Dawn comes on the screen, Hayden insists she is "Mommy". I'm trying to figure out why...could it be:

Her skin? Possibly...but I have more yellow undertones and she appears to be slightly on the pink side.


Her hair? Maybe...it is the same color - but I haven't worn it like that since about the seventh grade...and he's never known me with bangs


Her incredible fashion sense? I really really hope not.


Perhaps it is the fact that she gets aggravated with a certain boy who constantly does things he isn't supposed to be doing...yep - that has to be it.

How do you manage?

Mike has a bad habit of trying to adjust his glasses to fit tighter on his face. Naturally, he doesn't really know what he's doing so yesterday he was sitting in class fiddling with them when they snapped in half. It was really only a matter of time. Luckily we got the warrenty (good thing...this was his third pair since last May) so he left class early to run by the mall to see if they had another set of frames they could pop the lenses into. He had to work last night and since he delivers pizza, he really needed his glasses to see, plus they are doing firearms training in the academy and he needs to be able to see to shoot! Thankfully they had ONE pair left in stock and $24 later he had a brand new pair of glasses!

He gets home, we chat for a minute and I run out to check the mail. I walk back in and he had set his glasses on the table while he changed his shirt for work when aparently Hayden knocked them of the table and Mike stepped on them...the arm snapped in half! So off he goes to ANOTHER mall because they, thankfully, also have one pair left...which cost ANOTHER $24. Guess I worked for free last night, eh?

So if you're keeping track...Mike broke his glasses twice in one day and in just eight short months he's been through five pairs of glasses.

August 10th

Apparently I'll be hugely pregnant in the middle of a humid Florida summer...yuck.

And in other news...Mike washed a white towel with something red and now he has to take a pink towel to school for PT...manly, eh?
